The Cosumnes River College baseball team faced a challenging three-game road stretch at Fresno City College from January 30–31, competing hard against one of the region's top programs despite coming up short in all three contests.
The series opened Friday afternoon with an 8–2 loss in the opener. Fresno City struck early and used a pair of multi-run innings to build separation, while the Hawks continued to grind at the plate. Kenyon Sanders led the offense, going 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, while Alan Quirarte-Guzman scored twice. On the mound, Mason Harris provided a strong relief effort, tossing 3.2 scoreless innings and striking out eight to keep CRC within reach.
Saturday's first game saw Fresno City pull away late in a 10–2 decision. After holding the Rams scoreless through three innings, the Hawks broke through in the sixth and eighth innings on sacrifice flies by Brayden Boyle and Curtis Haggins. Fresno City responded with a five-run seventh inning to put the game out of reach. Aaron Del Real tripled, Henry Ramsey doubled, and Jaylen Dawson added a stolen base for CRC, while Carter Dean struck out six in his start.
In the series finale, the Hawks showed resilience despite an early deficit, falling 11–5. Curtis Haggins delivered a highlight performance, blasting a two-run home run in the sixth inning, while Ryan Okino added an RBI double and Aaron Del Real drove in a run. Cosumnes River collected 10 hits in the finale, including doubles from Alan Quirarte-Guzman and Okino. Out of the bullpen, Tyler Cody and Christian Rambeau combined for 3.2 scoreless innings to close out the game.
Despite the results, the Hawks showed flashes of offensive production and depth on the mound against strong competition. Cosumnes River will look to build on those positives as they return to action in their upcoming series.
