Hawks Take Down No. 10 Feather River in High-Scoring Road Win
The Cosumnes River College baseball team earned an impressive road victory on Tuesday afternoon, defeating No. 10 Feather River 10-7 in a high-scoring Non-Conference matchup.
The Hawks showcased a balanced offensive attack and timely pitching, overcoming a 2-0 early deficit and fending off multiple Feather River rallies to secure the win.
Cosumnes River got on the board in the third inning when Alan Quirarte-Guzman delivered an RBI double to score Jaylen Dawson. The Hawks continued to apply pressure in the fourth, taking a 3-2 lead behind RBI efforts from Brayden Boyle and Dawson.
After Feather River briefly regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth, the Hawks responded with a strong middle-innings surge. Cosumnes River plated two runs in the fifth, highlighted by an RBI single from Aaron Del Real, and added another in the sixth on Del Real's RBI double to extend the lead.
The Hawks continued to build separation in the seventh and eighth innings, capitalizing on sacrifice flies from Dawson and Quirarte-Guzman, along with disciplined plate appearances that resulted in 10 total walks in the game.
Del Real led the offensive effort with a standout performance, going 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, and three runs scored. Brent Martin added two hits and scored a run, while Dawson and Quirarte-Guzman each drove in two runs. Boyle and Henry Ramsey also contributed RBIs as part of a well-rounded attack.
On the mound, Mason Harris earned the win in relief, delivering 1.2 scoreless innings with four strikeouts to stabilize the game. Jacob Schreiber provided additional relief, and Brent Martin closed the door with a dominant two-inning save, allowing no runs and striking out three.
Despite being outhit 16-10, the Hawks capitalized on opportunities and played clean defense, committing no errors in the contest.
Cosumnes River will look to carry the momentum from the upset victory as they continue Big 8 Conference play.
