Weed, CA - The Hawks once again went on the road for their third straight road game to start out the season. Cosumnes River played hard but ultimately lost in 4 sets to De Anza in a neutral site match in four sets (25-22, 23-25, 11-25, 17-25). Defense was once again key to the Hawks playing in such a tight game vs the Dons of De Anza College. Sophomore Libero, Abigail Hicks lead the Hawk defense with 23 digs. The defense held De Anza to hitting a combined .229 as a team. Up front, Cosumnes River College combined for 15 blocks (3 solo, and 12 combo blocks). Gillian Ayala lead the Hawks with 4 combo blocks, along with the 3 by Kaley Dosier and Miah Williamson. Williamson also added in 2 solo blocks of her own. On offense, the Hawks were lead by the 11 kill efforts of Miah Williamson and Kaley Dosier. Taryn Oberle, Deziree McKee, and Ashanti Cason each added 6 kills of their own to help aid the offensive attack by Cosumnes River College. Errors were the ultimate demise in which they were unfortunately unable to overcome.
The second game of the night saw the Hawks take on the Eagles of Siskiyous. Errors once again were the Hawks shortcoming as they fell in 5 sets to the hosting Eagles (18-25, 26-28, 25-23, 25-23, 7-15). Up front, Kaley Dosier lead the Hawk's attack with 15 kills, joined by teammates Taryn Oberle and Deziree McKee putting in 12 apiece. The defense combined for 130 total digs with 6 players posting double digit digs. Abigail Hicks posted 36 digs to anchor the defense of the Hawks. Ainsley Beckman (19), Giovanna Parino (14), Kaley Dosier (13), Taryn Oberle (12), and Ashanti Cason (10) helped contribute to the Hawk dig total. Giovanna Parino posted a double-double with her 39 assists to go along with her 14 digs.
Up Next - CRC returns home for their first homegames of the season. The Hawks (2-4) will take on Alameda (1-4) at 2:00pm followed by a matchup with Marin (2-3) at 4:00pm. All games will be held on Clark Court with Modesto taking on the team opposite of CRC.
