Bio
Brittany Shine is entering her fourth season as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Cosumnes River College.
Shine has had a strong passion for basketball since she was young. She has been playing since she was four years old, making the game very special to her. Her experience includes over 20 years of competitive basketball, including five years in NCAA Division I basketball.
Shine played for the University of Florida and the University of California, Berkeley women’s basketball programs. She earned SEC Freshman of the Week and Tournament MVP honors in the Gator Holiday Classic, scoring 28 points in her first collegiate start.
Not only did Shine play competitive basketball for over 20 years and compete at the Division I level, but she also continued her career professionally overseas. She played for numerous teams in countries including Iraq, Egypt, Portugal, China (with the USA Select Team), Spain, Turkey, Cyprus, Morocco, and Tunisia.
Off the court, Shine is a high-energy basketball trainer and coach. The energy and encouragement she displays are key attributes to her leadership on and off the court. She believes in giving her very best and striving for continuous success, both personally and professionally, as a basketball player and coach.
In high school, ESPN HoopGurlz ranked her as the No. 88 best player in the country, while All-Star Girls Report ranked her as high as No. 6. She was a 2010 McDonald’s All-American Game nominee and the 2010 Sacramento Bee Player of the Year. Shine also earned Metro League Player of the Year, was named to the All-NorCal First Team, and was a four-time First-Team All-Metro selection. In addition to basketball, she ran track, anchoring the 4x100 and 4x400 relays and competing in the 100m and 200m.
Shine graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies and a minor in African American Studies.
