Bailey and Cooper’s Scoring Efforts Fuel Late Surge in 75–56 Road Win at Sacramento City
Cosumnes River turned a competitive first half into a convincing road victory, outscoring Sacramento City 26–16 in the fourth quarter to secure a 75–56 win Friday night.
After taking a narrow 29–28 lead into halftime, the Hawks began to create separation in the third quarter behind defensive pressure and steady scoring, entering the final period up 49–40. CRC then put the game away in the fourth, controlling the tempo on both ends and limiting Sacramento City's opportunities down the stretch.
Ariel Bailey led all scorers with 24 points, shooting efficiently from the field while adding four steals. Zakara Cooper followed with 21 points and five assists, consistently attacking the lane and converting at the free-throw line. Charisse Echano added 12 points and four assists, helping keep the Hawks organized offensively.
Cosumnes River dominated the glass, outrebounding the Panthers 42–37, including 19 offensive rebounds that led to key second-chance points. The Hawks also forced 29 Sacramento City turnovers, turning defensive pressure into scoring opportunities throughout the night.
Defensively, CRC held the Panthers to just 38.1 percent shooting from the free-throw line and limited their perimeter attack, allowing only four made three-pointers.
With the win, the Hawks improved to 11–10 overall and will look to carry their momentum into their next Big 8 matchup.
