Hawks Fall Short Against No. 11 Butte

Cosumnes River College battled against No. 11 Butte on November 20, showing resilience and flashes of growth despite a 73–50 final. After a difficult second quarter, the Hawks responded with their best stretch in the third, outscoring Butte 19–14 and cutting into the deficit with improved defensive pressure and transition energy.

Zakara Cooper led CRC with 12 points and four steals, attacking the rim and setting the tone defensively, while Peyton Thorpe provided a strong lift off the bench with 13 points and seven rebounds. Charisse Echano added nine points and three steals, helping Cosumnes River force 16 turnovers and disrupt Butte's rhythm for stretches.

Although Butte's depth and rebounding ultimately proved decisive, Cosumnes River's third-quarter response and defensive effort highlighted the team's competitive edge and willingness to challenge ranked opposition. The Hawks will look to build on that fight and clean up turnovers as they continue navigating a demanding nonconference schedule.
