Cosumnes River College showcased its offensive depth Friday with two strong performances against Santa Rosa Junior College, edging a thrilling 10–9 win in game one before erupting for a 12–0 shutout in the nightcap.
In the opener, the River Hawks built an early cushion with four runs in the first and two more in the second. Emily Azemar delivered a standout performance at the plate, driving in five runs and collecting three hits, including two doubles. Ashley Garcia added three RBIs, while Xochitl Atayde scored three times. Santa Rosa rallied late with a four-run seventh inning, but Atayde struck out eight batters and held on to secure the narrow victory.
The second game was all Cosumnes River from the start. The Hawks exploded for nine runs in the first inning and never looked back, finishing with 15 hits. Imani Black led the charge with three hits, including a home run and three RBIs, while Xochitl Atayde added three hits and three RBIs of her own. In the circle, Kaylena Ogle was dominant, tossing a two-hit shutout over five innings to complete the doubleheader sweep.
Behind timely hitting and solid pitching, Cosumnes River controlled the day and continued to build momentum with an impressive offensive showing.
