Mafnas, Pitcock Lead Strong Performances for Hawks at Los Rios Invite
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Cosumnes River College men's swim team delivered a series of strong individual performances at the Los Rios Invite, highlighted by standout swims from Jonah Mafnas and James Pitcock at Hoos Pool.
Mafnas led the way for the Hawks with an impressive showing in the sprint freestyle events. He posted a time of 48.89 in the 100-yard freestyle and followed it up with a 22.52 in the 50-yard freestyle, both marking improvements and ranking among the team's top performances of the meet. Mafnas also added a solid swim in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing in 1:55.38 to showcase his range across distances.
Pitcock continued his consistent season with multiple strong swims, including a 51.19 in the 100-yard freestyle and a 22.98 in the 50-yard freestyle. He also contributed in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.96, demonstrating his versatility across strokes.
Additional contributions came from Alexander Lal, who recorded a 26.72 in the 50-yard freestyle, while Ahmad Rahim posted a notable improvement in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:00.67. Matthew Barbusca matched that effort closely, touching in at 1:00.69 in the same event.
As a team, the Hawks recorded five personal-best swims and six season-best marks, reflecting continued progress and development early in the season.
Cosumnes River will look to build on these performances as they continue competition throughout the spring schedule.
