SAN JOSE (11-2) – Cosumnes River took on CCCAA #18 Foothill College in their second game of the San Jose Tipoff Classic. The Owls downed the Hawks 56-41.
In the first half, the Hawks started the game off strong defensively with three straight stops, but the Hawks struggled to score out of the gate. Despite the nice defensive start, Foothill started the game on a 9-2 run. The Hawks responded with a 9-2 run of their own to tie the game at 11-11 with 12:30 left in the half. The Owls led 22-16 at halftime.
In the second half, the Owls came out with two quick baskets to extend the lead to 26-16. The Hawks responded with a 7-0 run to trim the Owls' lead to 26-23 with 17:30 left. For the remainder of the second half, Foothill kept the game just out of reach with some timely three-point shots against tough defense.
Paul Ohiri led the Hawks with fifteen points, nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Next up for the Hawks is San Jose City College at 8 pm tonight.
