Sierra
Cosumnes River struggled to generate offense Friday afternoon as Sierra used an early surge and strong pitching to secure a 7–0 victory over the Hawks.
The Wolverines broke the game open in the bottom of the second inning, scoring five runs highlighted by a grand slam from Chris Fisher, giving Sierra an early cushion it would not relinquish. Sierra added single runs in the fourth and seventh innings to round out the scoring.
Ty Collum provided a steady presence out of the bullpen, limiting Sierra to one run across 2.1 innings while striking out three. Axel Holtz and Mason Harris combined for a scoreless stretch, each working efficiently and missing bats, while Carter Dean closed the game with a clean eighth inning and two strikeouts.
Offensively, the Hawks' opportunities were limited, but Alan Quirarte-Guzman continued his strong start at the plate, collecting both of CRC's hits and recording a double. Cosumnes River also showed discipline on the basepaths, drawing three walks and putting pressure on Sierra's defense throughout the game.
Despite the final score, CRC's bullpen performance and Quirarte-Guzman's day at the plate stood out as positives moving forward.
