Hawks Dominate at Home with Wins Over Santa Rosa and Sacramento City
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Cosumnes River College beach volleyball team delivered an impressive day at home on April 3, earning two convincing victories at the Hawk Beach Courts. The Hawks opened with a 4-1 win over Santa Rosa before completing the sweep with a dominant 5-0 victory against Sacramento City.
In the morning matchup against Santa Rosa, Cosumnes River set the tone early with a strong performance. The #1 duo of Hoffman and Patterson secured a straight-sets victory, 21-11, 21-15, to give the Hawks early momentum.
The Hawks carried that energy, where they won three of four of the remaining contested matches. Amen and Snow battled through a tightly contested #2 pairing, edging Santa Rosa in two competitive sets, 21-13 and 23-21. Belnap and Williams showcased resilience at the #3 spot, bouncing back after dropping the second set to claim a three-set victory, 21-14, 19-21, 15-8.
Fetzer and Rios added another point in dominant fashion at #5, cruising to a 21-8, 21-11 win. Santa Rosa's lone point came at the #4 position, but the Hawks' depth proved to be the difference in securing the 4-1 team victory.
Cosumnes River continued its strong play into the afternoon matchup against Sacramento City, not dropping a single match en route to a 5-0 sweep.
Hoffman and Patterson once again led the charge, earning a decisive 21-12, 21-6 win. Amen and Snow controlled the #2 match with a 21-18, 21-15 victory, while Belnap and Williams dominated at #3, winning 21-10, 21-8. Stutes and Valencia added another straight-sets win at #4, and Fetzer and Rios secured the final point via forfeit in the #5 slot to complete the sweep.
With the pair of wins, the Hawks continue to build momentum as they head deeper into conference play.
Cosumnes River will return to the sand on Friday, April 10, for Sophomore Day as they host Folsom Lake in a conference doubleheader at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the Hawk Beach Courts.
