CCCAA Northern California Baseball Regionals Preview – Cosumnes River vs. Feather River

This Week: The Hawks advanced to the CCCAA Northern California Baseball Regionals after defeating College of Marin 12-8 on Tuesday in Sacramento. The regionals will on Saturday and the Hawks-Golden Eagles match up will be at 3 pm on Friday. 

Scouting the Hawks: Cosumnes River came in in the Big 8 Conference regular season standings with a 23-17 overall record and a 10-14 record in conference play. Sophomore Burle Dixon leads the Hawks with a .340 batting average. Sophomore Josh Caldwell leads the Hawks in ERA with a 3.02 ERA.

Scouting the Golden Eagles: The Golden Eagles finished with a 34-6 overall record and won the Golden Valley Conference with a 23-2 record in conference play. Sophomore Vinny Zavolta leads the Golden Eagles with a .400 batting average. Jacob Miller leads the Golden Eagles with an 1.08 ERA.

Last Time Out: This is will be the first meeting between the two schools this season. The Hawks and Golden Eagles have seven common opponents – American River College, Folsom Lake College, Lassen College, Mendocino College, San Joaquin Delta College, Shasta College and Sierra College. Cosumnes River has a 9-8 record against those opponents while the Golden Eagles have a 13-2 record.

About The Coaches:

Don Mico is in his second year as head coach. He had previous coaching stops at Earl Wooster High School in Reno and Sacramento City College.

Terry Baumgartner is the head coach of the Golden Eagles. He was formerly the head coach of Western Oregon University.
