SAAC Executive Board Selection From

Office of President

Nominees:

Michaela Bennett-Wells - Volleyball :

I should be considered for this position because I have 10 years of leadership experience in both my academic and athletic history, including in event planning, fundraising, community service, and in communications, that can help me help SAAC get on its feet this semester. I am passionate about CRC athletics, and I am willing to do what needs to be done to make sure athletes are well-represented and the leading voice in all athletic-based decisions moving forward both this semester and beyond.

Alexis Gamez - Men's Soccer:

SAAC is something I am very excited about and I believe that energy is important to have to get this committee up and going for the first year. I would like to put events together that will draw all of our teams closer and give us the opportunity to interact so that we can create a family environment with all of the teams at CRC. That would give us a higher sense of pride to represent CRC at our games. I believe that I am suited for this position because as a sophomore, I got to see what it was like before SAAC and know what we can change on campus. I was also part of the Galt youth city council for two years, so I have experience with setting up and chairing committees.

Trinity Haynes - Women's Basketball:

Following the untimely events of outside world stresses, police brutality, school shutdowns, voting inequities and healthcare crisis, I took action through various nonprofits and service projects to do my part. I realized life is more than straight and narrow bliss that dictates our everyday lives. A portion of my everyday life was geared towards basketball; trying to stay positive for myself and other athletes became more of a "fake it to make it" mentality as workouts were carried out on zoom and the struggle to stay motivated became harder. Submerging out of the aforementioned funk conveyed the reality that most athletes shared my feelings. As President I plan to rebuild the "can do" moral we all desperately need right now while facilitating and maintaining the groundbreaking ideas of my peers. Ensuring that all are heard and no one is subjected to putdowns. Our main goal is to uphold the prestige of CRC and bring everyone along with us!

Office of Vice President of Community Service

Nominees:

Aija Redding - Volleyball:

I should be considered for this position because I don't shy away from leadership roles. I was captain of the Monterey Trail varsity team for 3 years (sophomore-senior), and I was also president of the FCA club (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). I know how to motivate my peers and encourage them to put their best foot forward. I also want to give back to my community by creating spaces and events that can help kids grow into their respective sports, eat healthily, and effectively prepare them for college life, sports, and academics. In addition to that, I would lead tasks such as cleaning up parks, beaches, volunteering in a food kitchen, or donating clothes- especially during these troubling times. These tasks, though seemingly menial, will not only strengthen our community for the better, but also strengthen our character as student athletes. By intently listening to my peers and highlighting our strengths and weaknesses and capitalizing on them, I would do my absolute best to create an inclusive environment and run a successful committee.
