SACRAMENTO, Calif.- The Cosumnes River volleyball team looks to build on their strong showing at the CRC Classic this past week when they play host to visiting Lassen College today. The Hawks, off to a strong 3-3 start following two tournament appearances, will look to improve upon their mark as they continue their homestand this afternoon.
CRC wrapped up this past week with a 2-1 showing at their own CRC Classic event last Friday. The Hawks got off to a fast start at the event, defeating Los Medanos and West Hills 3-0 in consecutive matches, before falling to Hartnell 3-1 in the finale. Cosumnes River was competitive early in the match, before the fatigue of playing in three straight matches began to take its toll. The Hawks should be rested and ready to go today, however, while the match could prove to be a tough test for Lassen.
Lassen is coming off a tough stretch where they've lost three straight matches, including a tough 3-2 loss at Yuba College last night on the road. Both teams alternated game victories last night, before the 49ers put Lassen away in the final game 18-16. Lassen's lone victory this season came against Chabot College in the 4th College of Alameda Classic earlier this season.
The match is scheduled for 2 PM today. General admission is $6, $4 for visiting students with ID, and $2 for senior citizens (over 60) and children 8-12. Admission is free for CRC students, faculty, and staff with valid ID. Children under eight are also admitted free of charge.
The Hawks will continue play this Friday when they play host to a mini three-team tournament. CRC will host Siskiyous at noon, before taking on De Anza in the finale at 4 PM.
