Hawks Survive Slugfest To Beat Solano Community College

Something was in the air at Solano Community College Thursday as the bats were hot with Solano pounding out 9 hits and the Hawks pounding out 14 hits. The Hawks scored early with 4 hits and 2 runs in the 1st inning, then adding 3 more hits and 2 more runs in the 2nd.

Solano scored 2 runs on 4 hits in the 3rd inning while the Hawks add 2 more runs in the 4th inning. Solano pushed 3 runs in with 4 hits in the 5th which took the game to the bottom of the 7th with the Hawks leading 6-5.

Solano leads off the bottom of the 7th with a double by Ashley Whaley. Then, Katelyn Lehman grounds back to the pitcher holding the runner at 2nd base. Alana Cowbes's fielders choice held Whaley at 2nd which puts Solano with runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out. Molly Schnurr comes to the plate and hits a one-hop shot to 3rd base where Kacey Lutz turns a double play by stepping on 3rd base and firing a shot across the diamond to end the game.

The Hawks hitting attack was lead by Amber Wright going 2 for 4, Kaitlin Pires 2 for 4, Aimee Hutchinson 4 for 4, and Dani Medina going 2 for 4. Hutchinson picked up the win as the Hawks win with a final score of 6-5.
