The 2013 campaign for the CRC Hawks kicks off this week with the debut of the newly-constructed CRC soccer fields. The Hawks will play a number of home matches against a group of talented northern California programs, before heading south to take on some of the best team’s southern California has to offer. This season will also see the program host a showcase, with the Nor-Cal College Showcase Weekend.
Cosumnes River kicks off the year this Tuesday, when they play host to visiting Feather River College of Quincy (Aug. 27). They’ll close out the week on the road in Redwood City, where they travel to take on the Colts of Canada College on Friday, August 30th. CRC will return home the following week for a lengthy homestand, which will run through the middle of September. Cosumnes River returns home on September 3rd to take on visiting Butte College before hosting the Nor-Cal College Showcase that weekend. CRC will host Shasta College on day one of the event, which runs from the 6th through the 8th. They’ll then host Evergreen Valley College on Saturday, before closing out the week and the showcase, when they host the 49ers of Yuba College. Other participants in the event will be crosstown rival American River, Fresno City, Lassen, Mt. SAC, San Diego Mesa, Big 8 rivals Delta and Santa Rosa JC, and West Hills.
CRC heads south to close out the non-conference portion of their schedule, with three contests against a group of perennial postseason contenders. The Hawks will open up the week on the road against Hartnell College of Salinas (Sept. 17). They’ll then head to southern California to play a pair of matches on consecutive days. The Hawks open the weekend with a match against Cuyamaca on September 21st. Cosumnes River then plays the next day with a morning match against Mira Costa on the 22nd.
The Hawks open their conference schedule at home on Tuesday, September 24th against the Bear Cubs Santa Rosa JC. Home matches during conference play will all kickoff at 4 PM. Big 8 Conference play will continue through November, with the Hawks regular season home finale against rival American River College (Nov. 15).
The 2013 season will be an exciting one at Cosumnes River College for soccer, as the college will once again play host to the CCCAA men’s and women’s state championships. The matches will take place on December 6 and 8, on the newly constructed CRC soccer fields.
Tickets are available at the gate for each event. Admission is always free for CRC faculty, staff, and students with valid identification.
