SACRAMENTO, Calif.- The Cosumnes River men’s basketball team has released the bracket for the 2013 James Clark Classic, hosted at Clark Court. The double-elimination tournament begins Thursday November 21st, and will run through the championship game, which will be played on Saturday November 23rd.
The Clark Classic is an eight team tournament, and will feature teams from all over Northern California, including five conferences. Returning to the Clark Classic is Chabot College of Hayward, Columbia College of Sonora, Feather River College of Quincy, Merced Junior College, Napa Valley College, as well as Porterville College. The College of Alameda makes its return to the Clark Classic, and is the lone new team to the tournament this season.
College of Alameda from the Bay Valley conference will take on Porterville College from the Central Valley conference in the first game of the tournament, which is scheduled for a 2 PM tip-off. The winner of that game will take on the winner of the Cosumnes River-Columbia game, which is scheduled for 6 PM on the opening day. Columbia College comes from the Central Valley Conference, and will be led by first-year head coach Rob Hoyt. In the opposite bracket, Chabot College (Coast-North) and Merced JC (Central Valley) will play in the 4 PM contest, and will play the winner of Feather River (Golden Valley) and Napa Valley (Bay Valley). FRC and NVC are scheduled for an 8 PM tip-off.
Action will continue Friday with consolation bracket games at two and four, with championship bracket matchups are scheduled for six and eight. Saturday will feature a noon tip-off for the Consolation championship game, with the third-place game taking place at 2 PM. The Clark Classic championship will take place Saturday the 23rd at 4 PM.
